Oh the glorious days of Spring….or shall I say the few glorious days of Spring…….
Yes, our Spring in Western Australia is sometimes a hit and miss affair, but on the lovely sunny days with birds chirping and bees buzzing around the blossom trees one really does get in the mood for some Spring sprucing. Last time I showed you how wallpaper can have a huge impact on a small space. Today a little more wallpapering, not so dramatic but understated elegant and simple. I bring you today my Spring updates with a French flair where I take you into my studio. My creative space. My Zen. My la-la land…..:-) A designer/photographer needs a studio you know..
It was not to shabby to start with. The huge feather filled sofa was a tad big for the room, but there was no way I was going to get rid of that (er.. expensive 😉 ) beauty when we moved in. So I made it work.
Change was on the horizon though when I came across a stunning but very sad-looking French settee on Gumtree. Had.To.Have.It. That old big feather sofa will have to move…. period.
Ok, long story short. Stripped it from its old dated covers….
Sanded it down a teensy bit….
slapped some chalk paint on…..
distressed on the details…
and recovered with luxe charcoal velvet…
A Studio with a French Flair
Whoa…. now that is pretty me thinks….. Oh, and the new wallpaper !! I chose a very subtle French script in a textured ivory with the script in the same colour as the warm brown walls.
The faint script is just enough movement and interest to enhance but not to overwhelm. It reflects a lot of light which is so good when doing portrait shoots in this space. (did I say I do photography as a hobby? no?…. 😉 My portfolio here
I finished the settee off with nickel coloured trim for a bit of drama.
And the rest of the space is decorated to be functional too. The dressing table not only holds creative items for costumes but is a place to display portraits, jewellery and makeup.
One must have a little powder and blush on the cheeks before that all important portrait shoot.
I hope you enjoyed my studio tour and the Spring updates for it. Share with me your Spring sprucing ideas!
Till next time,
